Christmas Card - Fancy Fold

Here is a Christmas Card I did for my monthly swap. I like the way it turned out. It's a different kind of fold.

Here is the card closed....

Here is the card opened....it's a full 11 inches open but folds to the size of a regular sized card.

Last night was bowling. I had one bad game (114) and one good game (147) but had a fun time. We bowled the "other" book club team and beat us in both games. Regardless of what I bowl, I have a good time and look forward to bowling every week.

This is a busy week. Tonight is the second class of the three class session of the jewelry class I am taking from Julie. Tonight we are making a drop pendant necklace. I am also going to make some earrings to match the necklace I made last week. You'll want to check back to see my latest creation.

Wednedsay night is book club and I am embarrassed to say, I didn't read the book. It won't stop me from going to book club but I prefer it when I actually read the book. The first years of book club I always read the book each month. This year I am slacking off and haven't read a few of them. I just didn't have a lot of time this month.

This weekend is the Haunted House. Kerry Ann is Lizzie Borden one night and a scarecrow the next night. Should be fun. Meghan and Jack always had fun working in the haunted house.

I will have some more things to post this week as I have been busy making things for the SCS Western CT swap on November 3rd.

Homecoming Weekend

Kerry had a great weekend and especially enjoyed her first high school dance. She looked beautiful in her new dress.

I was away all last week on a business trip and it was great to be home.

I am attending a shoebox swap with folks from SCS on November 3rd so I am preparing two projects. It will be fun to meet people from SCS and work on stamping projects with them.

I missed bowling last week so I am really looking forward to bowling tomorrow night. It is such a fun night out.

Look What I Made?

I bet your wondering what I have been up to.....Meghan keeps telling me, "if you don't update your blog, how will I know what is going on in your life".

Anyway, I haven't been making a lot of cards. Life has been busy lately. Today we had a great day at our Woman's Club Pumpkin Festival. I worked the raffle table all day. Kerry Ann helped selling pumpkins. The festival was a great success and I think everyone had a great time.

Tonight I did something very new...I took a jewelry class. Julie, from A Hearts Desire started teaching classes in her home. I signed up for her first session (three classes). Since I will be away on a business trip when the first class takes place I took the class a few days early by myself. At first it was a little scary to come up with my our design but Julie is a great teacher and before I knew it I had my piece strung. Unfortunately, when I held it up to look at it, I dropped one side and well, I don't have to tell you what happened. We found most of the beads and I re-strung the side that dropped.

Here is my first creation. What do you think?

Visit Julies blog for more information on her classes. I have her blog listed under sites I visit on the left hand side of my blog. Tell her Diane sent you.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

no it's not, but I did make a Christmas Card for a swap. Here is a cute (and easy card) using the SU holiday mini set Love & Joy. I used Old Olive and Real Red CS and SU DP called Dashing. Tied it in an old olive grosgrain bow.

Fall bowling starts tonight! I can't wait. Another team of ladies from book club will be starting with us tonight. I'll let you know how we do!

Another Criss-Cross Card

I really like to make these cards. They are different and easy to make. This one is for a baptism we are going to tomorrow. I suppose it should be a religious card but since I don't have any religious stamps I just made a baby card for Liam.

I'm looking forward to going to the party tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Bowling starts Monday and "Mines in the Gutter" is looking forward to another fun season!

Criss-Cross

The latest tutorial on SCS is a Criss-Cross Card. It's really quite easy to make. This is my first attempt at a Criss-Cross Card. I put this together basically just to see how to do it. Now that I realize how easy it is, I will put more thought into the papers, color and theme.

I just ordered the stamps and papers for my Christmas cards. I will be making them for a September Swap so I will make extra and have a headstart on my Christmas cards. I usually make more than one design since I get bored making 75 of the same card. I usually make 25 of three different designs.

We're back to structure and and schedule. Kerry Ann seems to be loving High School. She has a very busy schedule between school and her dance, voice and acting lessons. She also just got a fish tank with three fish. One of the fish, Tiger, didn't make it through the night. She's down to two fish (McDreamy & Morey) and since the fish has a 15 day guarantee we will be taking the deceased fish back to PETCO and pick out another.

I miss stamping....

It's been so long....too long. I haven't updated my blog because I haven't been stamping. Thank goodness for my two monthly swaps (one of which I have hosted for over two years now). If it wasn't for my swaps, I'm afraid I might not even stamp the twice a month I am stamping now. Things are just two busy to give it more time right now. I am going to try to fit more stamping in now that summer is over (boohoo) and the school schedule gives us a little more structure to our time. If only I could retire and stamp all day!

Anyway, here is a card I made for the monthly swap I host. I used my cuttlebug for the embossing, some SU DP and mellow moss cardstock and ink. I punched out a 1/2 circle on the opening side of the card and attached the Thanks sentiment in the circle on the inside of the card (the 1/2 circle on the front allows the whole image to show.

Bowlng starts on the 17th. I'm looking forward to it. We had fun in the summer league (came in 3rd) and I am missing it now.

Book club is at my house this month and the great thing is the author is joining our discussion via conference call...isn't that cool!
