Sometimes it takes a while....

to complete a card. I had the base of this card sitting on my stamping desk for several weeks. I liked the basic grey paper and added it to a base of pretty in pink...then I couldn't decide what to do. I left it on my desk for a few weeks and every now and then would look over my stamp sets and see if anything would work with it. Last night I picked up TIME FOR YOU from the SU Occasions Mini. I really like the park bench from this set and I also liked the saying "Always Time for You". This is what I came up with.

Book Club was delicious last night! You might ask how a book club could be delicious.....you would know if you were in the Chicklit's Book Club! Our hostesses usually put on a delicious spread to accompany our book discussion and last night was no exception. Pat's husband Paul pulled together a wonderful assortment and no one went home hungry. We enjoyed marvelous pulled pork egg rolls, chicken saltimbuca and many desserts! Oh, and the book, I really liked it. Reactions to the book were mixed but as usual our discussion was lively. Many in the group did not like all the info given at the end. I won't say why here so I don't spoil the book for anyone who wants to read it. The discussion was shorter than usual but interesting.

I had contacted the author prior to our discussion and he was very nice. He is sending us bookplates for our books. They didn't arrive in time for our discussion but I know everyone will be happy to get them when they arrive. If you would like to visit the authors web site click Here! There is a great tour of the town of Woodstock, VA by the author and his daughter. They show the town that inspired the author in the setting of the book. One of the things that interested me was the Tower that Malcolm often visited when he was working through things. We talked a lot about it last night. Seeing the tower, for me, helped me understand why this was a good place for Malcolm to want to go to work things out in his mind. In many ways, Woodstock, VA reminds me of our small town.

Cindy raffled off a Book Lovers Calendar and we had fun looking through the books recommended on our birthdays. Book club, as usual, is always a wonderful time. What a great group of ladies!

Notebook and matching pen...

I love these little notebooks. They are so easy to make and the matching RSVP pen takes about a minute! This was made with SU Designer paper and the new level three SU Hostess set called Time Well Spent.

We had a wonderful time at book club this past week. We laughed all night long. Not even going to try to explain how much fun we had as you really had to be there to understand how much fun we had.

This is a fun group of ladies and I enjoy the time I spend with them. Imagine a book club that gets sixteen women every month! It must e fun!

Here's a picture of me laughing at my holiday grab bag gift. You had to be there to understand why this was so funny.

Here is me with my Holiday grab bag ..... you had to be there to understand why this was so funny!

Only 70 something more hits until I have 5000 hits on this blog...amazing. I will have to do something special when it hits 5000.

Book Club Tonight!

Attention ChickLit's, just a reminder, Book Club is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Julie's. We will be discussing Lisa See's "Snowflower and the Secret Fan". I have bookplates signed by the author for everyone!

HELLO to my Secret Sister Brenda. She received my reveal package this week and was going to check out my blog so I wanted to make sure I said hello! It was a fun round of DSS over on SCS. I am still waiting to find out who my secret sister is and should know by the end of this week...so exciting.

Kerry Ann is flying to Florida as I type this. I dropped her off at school at 3:45 a.m. this morning for the bus ride to the airport. She should be landing in Orlando around 10:00 a.m. this morning. Lucky kid is taking her second trip to Orlando in as many months. I'm sure the one with her friends will be memorable. I miss her already!

Here is a card I am sending to someone at work who is out for a few weeks. Again, using a color I ususally don't use, Creamy Caramel. I matched it with red and a creamy caramel gingham ribbon. In addition to the retired SU stamp set I also used the Canvas background (not sure if you can tell from the picture). I also matched the envelop. It's not a new card, I had it in my card basket. I probably made it a year ago for a swap.

Have a good day. I will edit post after book club. Our book for April is Wicked! Some of from book club are also going to see the play in NYC in April.

Here Come The Chick-Lits!

Our 2007 Book List is posted here. Check here for updates. Book Club meets the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.

January
Book: Girl with A Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier

One down and ten to go! Another fun night at book club. Wendy was our hostess with the mostess. Fourteen ladies huddled together sampling a variety of tasty treats, discussing our book and passing around fortunes (you had to be there) which had us laughing in our pearls! I do think everyone wore pearls...another successful theme! Can't wait till next month.

The book was rated an average of 3 (1-4 rating system).

I was able to get bookplates from the author for anyone who had the book. If you didn’t make it to book club or didn’t get a bookplate and want one, let me know.

We had a new member join us this month…welcome Jana!
