It's Time For Blog Candy!

Happy April 1st. It's April Fools Day but I'm not fooling...it's time for more blog candy. If you read the last few posts you read that the blog candy for April will help you with your organization of craft supplies. As you can see from the picture the prize is a Ribbon Organizer and two spools of Michael's paisley ribbon to start you off. All you have to do is to leave a comment on this post and mention either a craft storage tip or your biggest craft organization problem. Maybe we can share some tips and resolve some organization problems.

Leave your comment, on this post, by Midnight on Friday, April 6th and I will post a randomly selected winner on Saturday morning, April 7th. Enter once and good luck.

Kerry's home from her 8th grade trip to Florida. She had a great time but she came home exhausted and sick. She has a temp and cold. She went right to bed. We're so happy to have her home.

I also use a wrapping paper storage system that my husband made with a couple of 1" x 3" and some dowels the width + 5" to hold the wrapping paper. He drilled slanted slots, angled at about a 45 degree angle with a router half way in the 1" x 3"s evenly spaced apart and laid the dowels in the slots. You thread your wrapping paper roll on the dowel and lay it in the slot for ease of use and seeing what you have on stock. I wish I could show you in a photograph. I have one if you can tell me how to insert it in the comments.

I hope that your DD is feeling better soon. Those spring colds tend to be the worst ones.

My craft storage tip would be to LABEL - LABEL - LABEL. I find that if I have everything nicely labelled, it makes it so much easier to find things. Also when you get a new SU set, a good idea is to scan the stamp label sheet and print off two copies, one for your inventory and the second one to go inside the box. That way if one of the stamps goes missing, it's so easy to see which one is missing. Hope this helps someone.

i have a room all to myself these days now that my kids have married and left home. And still...my problem is...how do I handle all the stamp sets. Do I line them up alphabetically (that's how they are now), lie them down, rubber up rubber down?, do I arrange them by topics. It's all so confusing. And I'm running out of room. should I sell some? give some away? I just don't know. And then what do I do with all my cards? Who wants them?

I scrapbook out of a closet with limited room, my tip is that I store things vertically to take advantage of space.

I really need my ribbon organized....getting to be a serious problem for me!! But I did get a label maker for Christmas and now my drawers are labeled and so are my stamp set so I can actually see them! I'd love to win your blog candy, thanks for the opportunity to win!!

Ok so my biggest problem is that I dont have a craft room.My three kids take up all our extra rooms.lolSo when I stamp I have to get everything out of my closet and bring it out,its a lot of work.I have seen these holders to put your craft ink into,my friends husband makes them,I think they would be helpful. Also if you buy a shelf for your wall, then add dowling through the two sides its a great place to hang up your ribbon spools.Hope your daughter feels better soon!

There are so very many different ideas out there ... for me ... I need to see my stashes. My dh has hung pegboard on the walls for me which allows me to have just about anything I want visable, one way or the other.

I hope your daughter is feeling better soon! My tip is one I found on another blog - small plastic ziplock bags from the beading section of the craft store for keeping brads and eyelets are great. Punch a hole at the top - above the zipper - and keep them on binder rings. I have shelves in my craft room and I put screws in the ends of the shelves to hang them from. It saves SO much space and they are easily accessible.

My crafting area is getting better, I still have a long way to go, but I am trying to cope with a every minimal area so have to be quite ruthless when it comes to trying to organise!!!! ha ha

I don't have a huge ribbon stash right now, so I have been using empty check book boxes -- ribbon spools fit perfectly! Though now I'm on my third - so maybe I need a better system!

I have a bead box to hold all my brads, clips, etc - I cut the label from the packaging and throw it in there so I remember the name/mfg.

I just spent yesterday continuing to organize my ribbon. Most of it is fairly short pieces - a yard or 2 maybe 3. What I have done isn't very ingenious but it works for me. I use the cropper hopper ribbon cards and a growing collection of CH embelishment drawers. This way I get my ribbon out where I can see it and sorted by color.

Hi! We just moved into a house that is half the size of our last house, so I had to think of ways to organize my stuff. I got pegboard and hung it in a closet. I got some cheap dowels and cut them into pieces. Now all my scissors are hung there and my ink pads are resting on 2 dowels each.
Thanks!

I think my biggest organization problem is all the embellishments. They are in a drawer but they get jumbled together. Sometimes generous friends give me bits and pieces of their stash...and that is really hard for me to organize too!

My biggest organization problem is my whole area, I just can't seem to find a system that will work.

I have lots of organizers and things, but a recent thing I have done is saved the plastic hanging bags that curtains and such now come in. And I store my Cuttlebug dies in them. My blog has a tip for storing punches too and my stamp room pics:

I have a lot of ribbon that is not on spools. I have wound the ribbon on wooden clothespins. You just clip one end of the ribbon on the pin, wind the ribbon around the pin and then fasten the other end with a pin. These all store neatly in a big ziploc bag. No more ribbon spaghetti!

I use plastic eavestroughing, screwed to the inside of my closet doors. Each piece of troughing holds approximately 20 rolls of ribbon. Then I use a straight pin to hold the loose end of the ribbon to the roll. Each roll is visible and I have the rolls arranged by colour. No need for dowels through the rolls - just take the roll from the trough.

My hugest dilemma for storage is my scraps. I never end up using them up like I know I should cause 1. I never think of them and 2. I can't find what I need.
Oh, and I don't have a craft room either. That's an issue in itself!
Thanks for the giveaway!

My daughter is going to DC in a week with school. I am sure she will have the same health fate. I hope she bounces back fast.
My biggest struggle with rganizing is myself. I get over whelmed and give up, or don't put things away, or make a mess then lak away and save it fo later. I am my own worst enemy!!!

I use the wire rack cubes you can build from Costco. Make the basic cube (4 sides and back) then slip in additional siding as shelving into the cube - secure with the plastic tie wraps that don't come undone. Instant shelving at any desired height. I keep my idea books organized this way and my scrapbook paper.
Also love reading everyone else's storage tips!

Good morning. My biggest storage problem is where to keep all my stamps. I've got so many SU sets right now just stacked on shelves in my craft room. It always seems that I'm looking for the set that on the bottom of the stack. What's a girl to do??? (davisfamily4930@comcast.net)

I think my biggest struggle for organization is my works in progress. I am typically doing more than one project at a time (who isn't?) and have things everywhere.

Hmmmm my dilemma, well lets see that would be my whole craft room. I'm constantly looking for way to become more organized. I have currently started placing my new purchases on my peg board so that I remember what I have on hand, that way I am more inclined to use it, and truthfully I have used more! Thanks for offering some great blog candy

My biggest problem is the mess I create when I'm creating. Very soon into the poject I need a place to work. I also need to organize my paper and stamps in a better fashion.
My only tip would be that I keep my embossing powders in cheap plastic sandwich type of containers and use a spoon to sprinkle the embossing powder on the project over the container.. this way I don't have sparkle an embossing powders contaminating each other and all over my table.

Got the paper and ribbon down for storage but still have issues with ink pads and other coloring stuff like pencils. Wants them close but out of the way. I need to go to Lowes again.

My biggest organizational problem is picking up after I've completed a project. I have a horrible habit of just pushing stuff to the side and pulling out more for the next card. My work area looks like a bomb went off in it!

What a great giveaway! I am very disorganized, I could use some tips myself. One thing that I do though is I keep a manilla envelope behind each color of my cardstock to put the scraps in. If I just need a small piece of a certain color I know where to find it.....Rita

Hi, hope your DD is feeling better. My baby girl hasn't been feeling good either! :*
I'm really big on organizing my stuff... everything from toys, books, magazines and craft supplies. You have to be...lol. I love wicker baskets the ones that are lined, so I use those for my craft supplies plus the clear storage totes too. You could use a recipe box for storing cards etc...

Thanks for the chance!

A tip: store your card stock scraps in plastic drawers (iris cart), sort them by color family.

See if can get this right this time Hope DD is feeling better these spring colds are awful am suffering with one now.
Tip is have a little book with all my inks in it by company, type, color and if have reinkers in my purse so don't buy duplicates. At home in craft room they are in shelves DH build in same order and reinker in boxes on top all labelled so can see quickly.

Oh, I never left a comment about the organizational issues...my biggest problem is not putting stuff away right away when I am using it (even when there is a place for it!)...then, I turn around and poof! my craft room is a huge mess again! (I need to get one of those little craft vacs for all those little bits of paper, ribbon, etc. that float around my house...don't even get me started on the topic of dimensional backings!)
